And the only train that crosses “The Avenue of Volcanoes”Starting June 4, 2013, the new luxury train known as “Tren Crucero” or “Cruise Train” connects two largest Ecuadorian cities of Quito and Guayaquil. The train travels from the breathtaking Andes south to the Pacific Coast over the course of a 4 day / 3 night /300 miles journey /starts from $990 dollars /all inclusive, but drinks. Powered by steam and diesel locomotives, the four coach “Tren Crucero” features a capacity for 54 passengers. The coaches offers a café serving beverages and snacks and an outdoor terrace, where travelers can appreciate the ever changing Ecuadorian landscapes along the Avenue of the Volcanoes: Gua Gua Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo passing through various scenic sites like The Devil’s Nose. Enjoying numerous excursions along the way, such as visits to Rose farms, cacao and banana plantations, indigenous markets, national parks and small Andean towns. Each evening passengers of the “Cruise Train” will be welcomed to typical Ecuadorian feasts at local haciendas where they will spend the night (included).
